Brief silent pulses of light already travel across the artwork, as though an invisible field were quietly alive, awaiting interaction.
ABOUT THE WORK
At rest, the artwork appears still.
Yet brief luminous pulses occasionally emerge across its surface, like a charged object quietly testing its own current.
These autonomous signals suggest that the artwork already carries a latent energetic field before any human interaction occurs.
When the visitor touches the artwork, this latent state becomes active. Colour gradually emerges beneath the white motif while a soft luminous halo appears at the point of contact.
The field can be touched, but not altered. Its density holds the energy under tension within the system: contact brings that energy into manifestation, but cannot release or exhaust it.
Interaction does not imply control. The visitor can provoke encounters, reveal local manifestations and temporarily redirect the experience, but the artwork retains its own logic. What appears through the gesture gradually fades; after the visitor's passage, the field returns to its latent state.
There is no final state towards which the process must converge, and no completed image superior to the transient manifestations that precede it.
There is nothing to complete.
The title Solarization evokes the gradual charging of an invisible energetic field. It also draws inspiration from the photographic process of solarization, in which light unexpectedly reveals hidden tonal reversals. Here, this principle is reinterpreted through interaction: colour and light gradually emerge from beneath the white motif, revealing a latent energetic structure already present within the artwork.
A presence travels through this latent structure. Through its encounter with the field, colour and energy become perceptible, then gradually disappear.
The movement appears driven by a force akin to magnetic attraction. The encounter gives rise to the phenomenon: a choreographic duet in which presence and energy move through, respond to and reveal one another. Concentrated yet seemingly effortless, its trajectory unfolds through a continuous flow of subtle tensions and impulses.
Energy is never consumed.
What disappears is not the energy itself, but its manifestation.
Its continuity lies in the density of a self-contained system: energy remains held within it, and the process can resume at any moment. Perpetual motion emerges as an infinite abstract process unfolding within a precisely defined structure.
This effortless persistence echoes the cyclical processes of the natural world, where transformation, disappearance and renewal belong to the same uninterrupted movement.
The experience lies in a process that can disappear and begin again — infinite, yet precisely defined.
The system remains.
The energy remains.
